Farooq Tahir, DVM, MS, MPhil, FELTP


Dr. Farooq is a veterinary microbiologist, field epidemiologist and IFBA certified biological risk management professional. He has diverse professional experience working with both national and international organizations including the Livestock and Dairy Development Department, Government of Punjab, Pakistan, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Fleming Fund Country Grant Pakistan, and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Currently, he is working with Integral Global as Veterinary Medical Officer focusing on One Health projects in GCC countries.

Farooq’s work has focused on disease surveillance and capacity strengthening at the human-animal-environment intersection using the One Health approach. He has been engaged in the development and implementation of various animal disease surveillance programs as well as surveillance of antimicrobial resistant pathogens. Farooq has led the capacity strengthening process for many animal health laboratories, earning some of them ISO 17025 accreditation. He has published a book chapter as well as several research papers in reputable journals. His research interests include One Health, zoonosis, laboratory capacity strengthening, and antimicrobial resistance.
