IGC is implementing a door to door testing and treatment project, utilizing a community health worker model. The majority of the community health workers are females from the local population. Individuals who test positive are brought to the local Civil Surgeon’s hospital and diagnosis is confirmed through PCR testing. Treatment is immediately initiated in addition to them receiving the hepatitis B vaccine. The project has a low attrition rate and has successfully achieved 96% cure among positive patients through this community health worker model. Read more about it here.
