International and Domestic Staffing Support

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Overview

Integral Global Consulting provides support to the Emergency Response and Recovery Branch at the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to respond to domestic and global responses to support the mission of the agency. IGC currently staffs subject matter experts (SMEs) in emergency medicine for complex humanitarian emergencies and ERRB’s training and capacity building efforts. IGC’s support consists of emergency response protocol development and review, community-based surveillance consultations, strategic planning, and manuscript review. The SMEs also provide guidance on curriculum development, assessment tool, evaluation methods, and data collection methods. ,The SMEs also provide direct support to current initiatives, including developing content for education modules, serving as liaisons between ERRB and other government stakeholders to maximize the outcomes of collaborations, advising on resource deployment options to ensure rapid and effective scaling of activities, and advising on a global mHealth data collection rollout. The efforts of the SMEs will serve not only to enhance the impact of ERRB’s current efforts, but also that of future responses to acute crises.

International Areas Supported

Burkina Faso/South Sudan

IGC provides technical assistance to Ministries of Health in Burkina Faso and South Sudan. IGC personnel include a Surveillance Technical Advisor in Burkina Faso and Nutrition Technical Advisor in South Sudan that provide assistance to CDC, Ministries of Health and community partners to implement surveillance projects, conduct trainings and analyze epidemiologic data to assess programs for internally displaced persons and conflict affected populations.

Democratic Republic of Congo

IGC is contracting of a Field Support Officer based in Goma, DRC. The field support officer coordinates and manages the implementation of cholera outbreak response activities in North and South Kivu, providing technical assistance for WASH, surveillance, laboratory and immunization programs.

Tanzania

IGC is staffing a Biostatistician and Health Information System Specialist. These personnel coordinate with CDC- Tanzania and other USG partner agencies to design surveillance activities, capacity building trainings, develop health information systems and implement activities in line with Tanzania’s PEPFAR Country Operational Plan.

Afghanistan/Pakistan

IGC provides technical staffing support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Global Immunization Division Eastern Mediterranean Region Team. IGC consultants in the roles of Data Managers, Field Support Officers and Epidemiologists support Global Polio Eradication Initiative partners in the implementation of polio eradication strategies, vaccine preventable disease surveillance and immunization activities, and data management practices.

Domestic Areas Supported

Medical Support

Integral Global Consulting provided staffing support to the Division of Global Health Protection at the Global Disease Detection Operations Center by contracting an epidemiologist to provide surveillance and data analysis services. The epidemiologist in the position monitored, assessed and updated a complex novel surveillance system to increase its capacity to detect international disease events.

Administration

IGC provides administrative support services to the Emergency Response and Recovery Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. IGC staffs an administrative support specialist to provide assistance with human resource processes, travel arrangements, onboarding and security clearance procedures.

Interpretation, Language, and Coaching

IGC provides specialized consulting services to the Emergency Response and Recovery Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. IGC’s contracted Linguist instructs CDC staff in French and English, including lessons for beginners and advanced lessons in subject area language. Additionally, the Linguist in this role provides language coaching to prepare for presentations, translates subject matter materials for circulation to CDC country partners and provides simultaneous interpretation during CDC meetings with partners.

Instructional Design

IGC currently provides CDC’s Workforce and Institute Development Branch (WIDB), Division of Global Health Protection (DGHP) instructional design and health education support for projects, programs, and activities including projects, programs, and activities that support COVID-19 and One Health Pan-respiratory Disease Surveillance. IGC provides technical assistance in designing, developing, and implementing training programs and workshops for countries globally while collaborating with SMEs on field epidemiology for the provision of technical content. The Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) training curriculum includes three training tiers: FETP-Frontline, FETP-Intermediate, and FETP-Advanced. IGC supports the development, revision, updating, and enhancement of training materials for all three curriculum tiers, building on One Health concepts through lecture materials, conveying One Health principles through case studies, and strengthening integrated management and leadership competencies.

Global Rapid Response Team Support

IGC’s Global Rapid Response Team (GRRT) Specialist provides ongoing administrative and analytic support to the GRRT at ERRB by updating and editing the Global Emergency Alert and Response Service (GEARS) monthly metric analysis, GRRT deployment and utilization statistics, and coordination of GRRT recruitment. IGC also supports ongoing process improvement and upgrades to GRRT Power BI models, and coordinates with Office 365 developers to make the necessary modifications.

Monitoring and Evaluation

IGC’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist currently supports CDC ERRB’s Emergency Response Capacity Team (ERCT), whose recent work has focused on conducting capacity building workshops in One Health rapid response and risk communication in collaboration with national Ministries of Health. In this role, IGC’s M&E Specialist has spearheaded the incorporation of M&E activities within these capacity building programs and has designed a novel M&E framework for the team’s future projects. This work has allowed the ERCT to better communicate their work’s effectiveness and impact.
