Supports national public health authorities in Uzbekistan to better understand population immunity to measles and identify gaps in protection. Despite high reported vaccination coverage, outbreaks continue to occur, highlighting limitations in administrative data and the need for more accurate measurement of immunity. Activities include implementation of a large-scale seroepidemiological study across seven regions (Republic of Karakalpakstan, Kashkadarya, Namangan, Samarkand, Tashkent, Khorezm oblasts, and Tashkent city) covering approximately half of the country’s population. Field teams of epidemiologists, nurses, and laboratory specialists are deployed across multiple districts and health facilities to collect and analyze samples. Findings will inform national immunization strategies, support identification of at-risk populations, and strengthen outbreak preparedness and vaccine-preventable disease surveillance systems.
