Public Health Emergencies in Uzbekistan

Building Uzbekistan’s Public Health Emergency Management System

Integral Global (IG) is partnering with the U.S. CDC’s Division of Global Health Protection (CDC/DGHP) and Uzbekistan’s Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health (CSEWPH) to strengthen the country’s ability to respond to public health emergencies.

2025

IG facilitated the implementation of a 5-day rapid response training for 30 emergency operations center staff, epidemiologists, emergency medical technicians, and other relevant professionals, including representatives from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, National Veterinary Committee, and Ministry of Ecology and Nature Protection. Through this engagement, IG leveraged international and in-country expertise to increase knowledge and skills in rapid response techniques (assessments, containment measures, and clinical management of emerging health risks); enhance capacity to detect, investigate, and contain health emergencies; strengthen health system preparedness for future health threats; and improve coordination and collaboration among health and other multi-stakeholder professionals.

The training will gather 20 participants, including 15 CSEWPH representatives, 3 from the National Veterinary Committee and Animal Protection, 1 from the Ministry of Emergency Affairs, and 1 from the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Protection. Participants will travel from Tashkent and across regional centers such as Andijan, Samarkand, Ferghana, Nukus, Jizzakh, Navoi, Termez, Karshi, Urgench, Namangan, and Gulistan. This training aim to improve technical capacity in managing health information systems during crises and to strengthen intersectoral collaboration and operational readiness through hands-on simulation exercises.
