Integral Global (IG) is partnering with the U.S. CDC’s Division of Global Health Protection (CDC/DGHP) and Uzbekistan’s Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health (CSEWPH) to better incorporate the One Health approach into national public health objectives and capabilities.
2025
To promote a multisectoral approach in One Health and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) programs, IG organized Uzbekistan’s 7th One Health Workshop titled “Strengthening Zoonotic Disease Surveillance and Introduction to the One Health Surveillance Tool,” led by the U.S. CDC’s Office in Uzbekistan. The event, held from June 17-19, gathered representatives from IG; CDC; the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health (CSEWPH); Research Institute of Epidemiology, Microbiology, and Infectious Disease (RIEMID); National Veterinary Committee; Ministry of Emergency Affairs; Ministry of Ecology, Environment, and Climate Change; all 14 sub-national health departments; World Health Organization (WHO); Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and World Bank.
Over three days, attendees discussed the country’s current zoonotic disease burden, evaluated progress on previously determined One Health goals, and reviewed the existing zoonotic disease surveillance system. After an overview of existing One Health surveillance and visualization tools, participants deliberated on their priority use cases for Uzbekistan and key next steps for implementation.
2026
IG will expand on previous efforts through a three-day workshop on the implementation of the One Health Surveillance Visualization Tool will be conducted in Samarkand City. The event will bring together 20 in-country stakeholders, including 15 representatives from the Committee on Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health (CSEWPH), 3 from the National Veterinary Committee and Animal Protection, 2 from the Ministry of Emergency Affairs, and 2 from the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Protection. Participants will travel from across Uzbekistan, with national-level representatives primarily coming from Tashkent, and regional CSEWPH staff joining from Andijan, Bukhara, Ferghana, Nukus, Jizzakh, Navoi, Termez, Karshi, Urgench, Namangan, and Gulistan. The workshop will serve as a platform to introduce and operationalize the visualization tool, enabling stakeholders to enhance integrated surveillance and data-driven decision-making within the One Health framework.
